Introducing Medavie HealthEd
Since being acquired by Medavie EMS, the Atlantic Paramedic Academy (APA), the Maritime School of Paramedicine (MSOP) and EMT Services operated separately. This common name and brand reflects our ongoing development under the Medavie EMS group of companies. It also demonstrates a unified vision for education delivery and supports our pursuit of new training opportunities provincially, nationally and internationally.
Medavie EMS delivers high quality and professional health programs. This includes Canadian Medical Association (CMA) accredited Advance Care Paramedic (ACP) and Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) programming as well as other specialized health courses. Here’s some background on the school and EMT Services:
Ø The Atlantic Paramedic Academy (APA): Originally founded in 2001, it joined the Medavie EMS Group of Companies in 2008. There are bilingual campuses in Moncton and Fredericton. The APA specializes in the delivery of ACP/PCP programming and other courses tailored to the needs of healthcare providers. In addition to civilian programming, it also provides Advanced Emergent Care (AEC) training to members of the Canadian Department of National Defence.
Ø The Maritime School of Paramedicine (MSOP): Founded in 2000, it joined the Medavie EMS Group of Companies in 2010. There are three campuses in Nova Scotia including Dartmouth, Shelburne and Sydney. MSOP’s core offerings include ACP/PCP programming, Marine Medical Training and Medical Office Administration training.
Ø EMT Services Inc: A community-based health education delivery organization that offers a broad range of training aimed at developing and enhancing essential life-saving competencies including First Aid, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), International Trauma Life Support (ITLS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Since 2008, EMT Services has held a contract with Correctional Services Canada to provide training to nurses in federal correctional facilities.
