Jonathan Humes Memorial Award

Jonathan Humes was a dedicated Critical Care Paramedic for over 35 years, during which he witnessed and contributed to major advancements in emergency medicine. He spent the majority of his career with Emergency Health Services in a number of different roles, ranging from Lifeflight to ground operations. Jon was a respected leader in his field and his greatest passion was being a mentor to others. He deeply valued education and continued to learn throughout his life. The Jonathan Humes Memorial Award honours his legacy and aims to empower students as they begin their careers as paramedics.

PCP Award value – $1000/ACP Award value – $500

Eligibility Criteria

The Jonathan Humes Memorial Award  is open to individuals who:

  • Are accepted or enrolled in a Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) or Advanced Care Paramedicine (ACP) Program at Medavie HealthEd
  • Have a solid Academic Record (min of 80%). * only applies if you have already started the program.
  • Have a strong financial need
  • Must have recent volunteer experience (within the past 2 yrs)

Any related work experience will be considered an asset

How to Apply

  • Download and follow the instructions on the Application Form (2024).
  • Please note that winners MUST be able to attend the Fall graduation ceremony to collect their prize.

Please submit your entire application package via email to scholarships@medaviehealthed.com no later than midnight on May 31, 2024 – winners will be notified shortly thereafter.

The bursary winner will be notified personally and their names will be announced on the Medavie HealthEd website. The award will be delivered upon verification of registration in the appropriate education program.
